Review: Listen to the Baby Animals

Marion Billet is back with another beautiful addition to the 'Listen to the' series of engaging and interactive board books.

In Listen to the Baby Animals we meet six darling babies: lamb, kitten, donkey, puppy, piglet and chick.

The text is minimal and simple, but what makes this book (and the others in the series) special, are the real-life sounds just a press away on each page.

Children will delight in pressing, pressing, pressing and listening to the sounds of barking puppies and cheeping chicks. And I love that the sounds are of real animals, so kids learn as they explore.

Marion Billet's illustrations are, as always, just gorgeous. They are bright and colourful but also simple, which is great for young kids. I also loved the addition of tiny little critters on each page and had fun spotting them with my three-year-old.

Like the others in the series, Listen to the Baby Animals is a sturdy book with thick cardboard pages. It has a battery, but it's located at the back of the book and held in with strong screws to keep little hands away.

And there is an off button! So if you happen to tire of meowing kittens and squealing piglets, you can turn the sound off and enjoy the book with just words and pictures.
