Weekending: Last One for July

We had such a fun, low-key weekend that was super welcomed after a busy July. I truly can't believe tomorrow is August, but I'm definitely ready for a month without any commitments except for Brandon's business travel and Walker starting school.

So here's a bit of what we were up to this weekend:

\\ FRIDAY:

+ Walker had the thrill of his little life Friday morning: he got to "help" our sanitation workers throw the trash in the back of the trash truck. Anyone who knows him knows that he adores the trash trucks and lives and breathes for the Friday morning trash pickup. So when one of the guys asked if he wanted to help, his little eyes lit up. After looking at me cautiously to ensure it was okay, he practically ran to help them. It was the sweetest! I'm so thankful for our community.

+ Brandon got home from his business trip to Canada, and we spent a lazy afternoon together as a family.

+ That evening, we had our babysitter come over to watch Knox so we could take Walker out on a one-on-one date night to Pinstack. We had a pretty rough go a couple of weeks ago on our first visit there, but after I nicely said something to the manager, they totally went above and beyond to make it right, inviting us back for an evening on them: bowling, arcade games, laser tag, food, drinks and snacks. It was totally unnecessary {I was thinking they'd maybe just reimburse us for our first visit} but it was definitely welcomed and we were thankful for their excellent customer service and the special treat of an evening on them! And, it was a complete blast to spend that special time with Walker. He was totally eating up spending time with us without his little brother around, and he may or may not have beaten me at bowling... ;)

\\ SATURDAY:

+ This was a completely lazy day: laundry; cleaning; errands; naps; and a long shower for me followed by this mask on my face, which worked wonders after my face was hating me for wearing makeup so many days last week in this ridiculous humidity.

+ I was majorly craving a smoothie {nope, not pregnant!}, so Walker came with me to Jamba Juice to get smoothies for the family and wheatgrass shots for Brandon and me. When we sat down at the table to wait for our smoothies to be made, Walker said, "Mama, we're on a DATE." Oh, I could have just eaten him up! He was 3.5 years old exactly on Saturday and it made my mama heart a little sad at how quickly he's growing up.

+ Saturday evening, we met Emily and her sweet family at Twisted Root for supper. It was a great time catching up with them, getting to hold sweet baby Betsy, and enjoy a yummy meal that we didn't have to cook. ;)

+ After supper, we walked over to the adjacent splash pad, where my children proceeded to crawl and run right in the water and completely soak themselves from head to toe!

+ We got the boys to bed, this tired mama took a ZzzQuil and we watched one episode of "Bloodline" before I fell asleep on the couch, per usual, and then quickly moved to the bedroom and slept from 9 p.m. - 7 a.m. Mom win!

\\ SUNDAY:

+ We went to church, where our pastor preached an amazing sermon. I wanted to share my favorite takeaway from it in hopes that it will benefit someone else, too:

"Don't let Satan destroy your future by making you look back at the past and making you remember something Jesus already forgot. You can't move forward [in your pursuit of Christ] while still looking back."

+ After church, the boys took long naps and I had a long date...with the iron and ironing board. Ughhhh. {My least favorite chore ever!}

+ When the boys woke up, we were thrilled to watch Adrián Beltré of the Texas Rangers hit his 3,000th hit. We were all rooting him on, including these two who stand exactly the same and I just love it:

+ I did a bit of organizing in the boys' closet, which led us to cleaning out the garage. I don't know how, but our garage always gets so dirty, filled with junk and disorganized, so it felt amazing to throw away two giant contractor bags full of stuff, organize and blow it all out. All the praise hands for that chore being completed!

+ And I shared this on Instagram, but wanted to share here, too:

"This picture is such an accurate representation of my life with these two boys: blurry {because someone's always moving}, goofy, silly and rambunctious. And yes, Knox is totally only wearing a diaper! But, I'm trying to be more intentional about getting in those pictures and making my husband grab the camera so that my children will have pictures to remember me by when I'm not here one day: real-life, non-staged, imperfect photos. I might be exhausted, have bags under my eyes and find more gray hairs by the minute, but my hands and heart are full."

I hope y'all have wonderful weeks!
