12 Curly Questions with author Fiona Harris

1. Tell us something hardly anyone knows about you.

I love horror movies, especially ones about ghosts, demons and all things paranormal.

2. What is your nickname? 

I get called Fi by most of my friends and family, but my husband calls me Fuj.

3. What is your greatest fear?

Rodents of all shapes and sizes. Ew!

4. Describe your writing style
in 10 words. 

Mostly humorous, heart-warming and just a little bit daggy.

5. Tell us five positive words that describe you as a writer.

Passionate, dedicated, disciplined, curious, fun.

6. What book character would you be, and why?

Pippi Longstocking because she is strong, independent and adventurous. And she doesn’t put up with grown-ups who treat her like a little kid. 

7. If you could time travel, what year would you go to and why? 

I’d have to go back to 1985 so I could go and see WHAM’s first Australian concert. (WHAM was a really famous band and I was in love with their lead singer. Google them. Told you I was daggy.)

8. What would your 10-year-old self say to you now? 

Oh wow, we did it! We’re an author. Go us!

9. Who is your greatest influence? 

JK Rowling

10. What/who made you start writing? 

Enid Blyton

11. What is your favourite word and why? 

One of my favourite words has always been 'onomatopoeia', which means a word that sounds like its meaning, like ‘hiccup’ or ‘swish’ or ‘KABOOM’. I think that’s really cool. (My other favourite word is 'fart'.)

12. If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be?

That’s too hard! I’d have to choose The Book That Contains Every Book Ever Written. (I don’t think anyone’s made that book yet, but it’ll be pretty big!)
