Labor Day Weekending

Did everyone have a good Labor Day? Ours was full of family time and down time, mixed in with a bit of fun. Here are some highlights:

\\ FRIDAY:

+ The boys and I met my sister-in-law, Nikki, at Chick-fil-A for lunch. They love her to pieces and of course, it was so nice for us to visit for a bit while the boys played. Surprisingly enough, we ran into Shay Shull/Sean Lowe's mom, who was there with Sean and Catherine's son, Samuel. I didn't want to be a weirdo and say anything, but I will say, we sat at the table right next to them and she seemed very sweet.

+ Brandon made it home from his week-long business trip {#allthepraisehands} and it was so nice to be reunited after 5.5 days away.

+ We ran some errands: oil change for me, grocery pickup {still a game changer in this household} and the like. I was actually laughing because I had a coupon code for free Walmart Grocery Delivery via Uber, so I ordered all my groceries online and had them delivered to my house for free. There are parts of 2017 that I like. ;)

+ The rest of our evening was very low-key: I made my family's famous meatloaf recipe for supper, did a ton of Brandon's laundry from his trip, and we both fell asleep on the couch watching a special on Diana, Princess of Wales. A wild Friday night, for sure. ;)

\\ SATURDAY:

+ Brandon took Walker to grab sprinkle donuts {and Taco Cabana's breakfast tacos for the adults}, and we proceeded to have a very lazy Saturday morning full of couch cuddles and "Brave" for Brandon and Walker; a morning nap for Knox; and some picking up around the house for me.

+ We ran a few errands on Saturday afternoon, including Home Depot and to World Market to pick up my new piece of furniture! It was 10% off plus an extra 5% off if you picked it up in-store, so we took advantage of that Labor Day deal. {And of course, now I'm wanting to buy new baskets to style it and new barstools because I'm crazy.} Knox was decked out in his new Baylor onesie my mom bought him for Christmas; too bad it didn't help them win.

+ I came home to the nicest surprise: Tori saw my recent Instagram post about our church collecting shampoo, deodorant and soap for the victims of Hurricane Harvey and sent me a big box of those items from halfway across the country. I seriously started crying when I opened the box. She and I have never met in person and just her generosity and big heart was enough to bring me to tears. There truly is good left in this world.

+ We treated the boys to Rainforest Café for dinner on Saturday night. We'd been avoiding it as long as possible {ha!} but when Brandon got an email with a "Kids Eat Free" coupon, we figured, "Why not?!" Walker had the best time! Knox was a little apprehensive and looked at me like, "Do I like this?" all throughout dinner, while Walker was turned around watching the giant animatronic gorilla throughout our meal. Bonus points that the restaurant employs a balloon artist and our boys were just in heaven. Walker finished our evening off with a trip to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for a chocolate-covered marshmallow. It was a fun little family evening!

\\ SUNDAY:

+ Knox has picked up Walker's gross cough {and Walker's started back up again...the joys of returning to school} and so I stayed home with them while Brandon went to church.

+ We received tickets to the Rangers game, so my in-law's came and stayed with the boys while Brandon and I went on a little day date. It was hot as blazes out there {can't wait until the new stadium WITH A ROOF is built!} but we still had fun just spending one-on-one time together.

+ We had leftovers for supper and watched "Captain Phillips" after the boys were in bed. That was such a great movie!

\\ MONDAY:

+ We played around in all of our Americana gear for a bit before heading over to my in-law's house for lunch and swimming. I made sure the boys got to wear their red, white and blue {and Knox wore his sweet American Flag Jon Jon one last time before packing that away}, and we enjoyed one last dip in the pool for the season. It was great to be together with family and enjoy some hamburgers, sweet potato fries, macaroni and cheese, and yummy appetizers -- and enjoy a nice day off {for Brandon, anyway!} and the boys loved having Daddy home for an extra day.
