Weekending: The One Where We Did All the Christmas Things Before Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving Week! We had a fun-filled weekend full of...Christmas-y things. I know, I know. And yes, I'm clearly in the "All Things Christmas" camp, if you couldn't tell, but we definitely do love us some Thanksgiving and can't wait to celebrate later this week.

Here's a bit of what we did this weekend:

\\ FRIDAY:

+ We put the boys in Christmas jammies, turned on "Elf," gave Walker some hot chocolate with marshmallows and had a cozy little family night on the couch. If there's one thing I love about being a parent, it's starting our own traditions as a family. It's just so much fun!

\\ SATURDAY:

+ We went to see "ICE!" at the Gaylord Texan, which was so much fun! Albeit ridiculously cold, but still so much fun. If you're local and planning to go this year, try the coupon code "DALLASMOM" or "SOCIAL17" for 50% off your online tickets! (Children four and under are free!)

+ In the evening, Liz took our family portraits! It was the windiest day of the year and we felt like we were in a hurricane and also freezing, but I think we got a few to work with! I can't wait to get them in!

+ After our pictures, we went to Liz's house to meet up with her husband and girls, then all had dinner together at Gloria's. I've mentioned it before, but if you're new here: Liz and I used to work together doing communications at a local school district. We became super fast friends and got pregnant really close together. In fact, we had the same OB, delivered in the same hospital two days apart, worked together, and our babies went to the same day care until I started staying at home. So, her youngest daughter, Peyton, and Walker don't even remember meeting each other! We are hoping they'll end up married one day. ;)

+ Once the boys were tucked into bed, Brandon and I watched the first episode of "Stranger Things 2." I had someone message me on Instagram asking if it was scary and, well, to me, it's a little creepy. I normally don't like anything Sci-Fi, but I actually like this show. I can't, however, watch it when Brandon isn't home.

\\ SUNDAY:

+ We went to church, and it was a super sad day because it was our pastor's last Sunday as our pastor. He and his family felt called to a church in Athens, Georgia, and will be starting there at the beginning of 2018. There were many tears shed, many hugs given and tons of "see you later"'s. I was so cried out that I had a headache!

+ After all that crying, we needed a little happy, so we put up the Christmas décor. I couldn't wait a minute longer! In addition to the tree, we also hung up our stockings, advent calendar, Christmas books in my favorite basket, mistletoe, all of our framed Santa pictures from the past four years, and Brandon set up the outdoor garland, "wreath," lighted reindeer and lights. It made me so happy!

I get a new ornament every year for the boys, and I was so excited when Precious Moments sent us this sweet 2017 ornament. The boys loved hanging it on our tree, and Knox couldn't quit yelling, "Mooo! Moooo!" I used to collect Precious Moments collectibles growing up, and this was a sweet reminder of childhood.

Have a great rest of your week and Happy early Thanksgiving! I'll be back Wednesday for "What's Up Wednesday" and Friday for "Friday Favorites." Don't forget to link up with Emily, Owen and me next Wednesday, Nov. 29, to share your gift ideas for guys!
