What's Hap-pinning Wednesday: Viva Las Vegas
Happy Wednesday, y'all! We had a wonderful time in Las Vegas over the weekend and I wanted to share a quick little recap with you today. :)Vegas was definitely fun and exciting, and it was totally a place that I knew I had to see and experience for myself. But, to be honest, it's definitely not a place I think I'll have to go again -- or at least for a while. ;) Brandon and I aren't huge drinkers or gamblers, so while we had a ball shopping, dining at great restaurants with a glass of wine and seeing a show, the stale cigarette smoke smell (and marijuana smell now that it's legal in Las Vegas), and absolutely out of control people was just a tad bit much. But, still fun and here's a look at what we did:
-FRIDAY-
I dropped the boys off with my in-law's and flew to Las Vegas to meet Brandon. He had been there since last Monday for a trade show at the Las Vegas Convention Center, so we made this a little getaway for me to join him.
Brandon absolutely spoiled me rotten and gave me American Airlines Admirals Club access, as well as purchased me a First Class ticket. We don't normally fly First Class (economy all the way!) so this was a real treat for me. I got to the airport a little early, enjoyed a mimosa {or two} at the Admirals Club and hopped on board the plane.
Brandon met me in baggage claim with our driver, Amir. Amir took us straight to the famous "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign -- something Brandon set up with him knowing I wanted to see it.
Amir then dropped us of at our hotel, The Bellagio. It was such a beautiful hotel (and huge)! I totally couldn't get over the vastness and opulence of Las Vegas the entire time we were there. We got checked in and had a beautiful view of the Red Rock Canyon from our hotel room.
Once we got settled in, we hit the town! Brandon took me over to see the Paris Hotel and we took a turn at the slot machines. I quickly lost us $20 and he quickly won us $44. I'm such a bad gambler! Ha! We wandered around some more down The Strip just looking at all the things -- and all the people. ;)
We got back to the hotel, where I proceeded to take a two-hour nap! Ha! I was so tired from being home all week with the boys by myself and traveling that I was zonked. We then got dressed and stopped to see the famous Bellagio Fountain Show...
...and then headed to dinner at The Giada Restaurant at The Cromwell. It's Giada De Laurentiis's restaurant and was so delicious! Brandon ordered the Crab and Scallop Risotto, and I had a Caesar Salad and the Shrimp Spaghetti. It was so delicious and the restaurant is so pretty with spectacular views of The Strip.
After dinner, we grabbed a taxi and headed down to Fremont Street in downtown. It's basically the "old Vegas" and is a five-block covered pedestrian mall that has casinos, restaurants, shops, bars and does this nightly light show called the "Fremont Street Experience." It was so neat to people watch and see the show!

We took a taxi back to our hotel and were in bed before 11 p.m. #oldpeople
-SATURDAY-
We were both able to sleep in until 7:30 a.m. (9:30 a.m. Central Time!) and that was awesome. We had the most expensive breakfast of our lives at The Bellagio Buffet (good, but nothing I'll need to do again if we go back), and then wandered around The Strip some more. We both took a spin at the slots and I again lost while Brandon won a little.
After that, we headed to our spa appointment at The Flamingo Spa. Overall, it was a good experience -- the spa was clean, the massage was good and it was a nice way to relax. It wasn't the nicest spa I've ever been to, but it was still a good way to wind down and enjoy some relaxation.
After our spa, we grabbed a late lunch at Snacks inside The Bellagio and took it up to our room. We ate lunch, rested a bit and took our time getting ready and then had dinner at Beauty & Essex inside The Cosmopolitan -- a super cool tapas-style restaurant that was absolutely delicious! We ordered the Tuna Poke Wonton Tacos; Avocado, Lemon and Espelette "Jewels on Toast"; Roasted Mushroom Pizetta; and Oven Braised Chicken Meatballs for dinner, and then had the doughnuts for dessert. So, so yummy!

-SUNDAY-
We grabbed a quick breakfast at The Bellagio Patisserie and it was so good! I had a yummy Ham and Swiss croissant and a mocha, Brandon ordered an omelette and a coffee, and we shared a chocolate croissant. Yum!
We then headed to the airport for an early flight home to our babies! And of course, it wouldn't be a vacation without one of our kids getting sick...poor Walker had a stomach bug on Saturday and my mother-in-law said it was just pitiful. But, I'm so thankful they didn't tell us so we could enjoy our time away without worrying about Walker -- because I would have just been worried sick about him and would have been completely unable to enjoy our vacation. Walker was back up and running Sunday by the time we got home, which was a great little welcome home gift.
So, all in all, it was a great vacation! Vegas is absolutely opulent, beautiful, crazy, wild, fun and yes, even relaxing (for us)!
