Rome Pilgrimage
The time is coming closer. Soon, we will be heading out to Rome. There are about 300 people going on the pilgrimage. We have finally paid off the balance for our trip, which includes hotel accommodations, busing, airfare, and shirts. Just like World Youth Day, each pilgrim will have a shirt to wear so we can all be identified as Guam folks. We were told that the shirts will get our shirts sometime in mid-April. However, this trip is not like the World Youth Day trip because youths are not the only ones going on the trip. We also have families with children and elderly folks coming with us. We are excited to meet Pope Francis who will be there to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Neocatechumenal Way. The new member of the International Team, Ascension Romero, will also be introduced to us. I have to get used to hearing her name.
The International Team now includes Kiko Arguello, Ascension Romero, and Father Mario. There is always a woman on the team. There is also a Catholic priest on the team. Father Mario Pezzi is an Italian Catholic priest, theologian, and catechist in the Neocatechumenal Way. Father Mario is there to present a theological-pastoral view inside the Way, where he is the leading priest. Every year he carries out the work of collating texts from the Magisterium and Tradition of the Church to help the catechists and members of the NCW. His work is presented each year at the beginning of the catechesis of the NCW courses.
