Review: Little Witch Plots and Potions (Book 3)

In the next instalment of the Little Witch series, Plots and Potions, Courtney is heading to school camp.

Nature, hiking and sports are not really her thing. She would much rather be indoors, reading her spell book and practicing spells.

But she agrees to go, and after finding a magical way to bring her talking cat, Ink, she tries to make the best of things.

But camp turns out to be far more eventful than Courtney could have ever expected. The camp owner, Maude Mouseheart, is hiding secrets, and Courtney is the only one who seems to be concerned.

Mysteries, kidnapping and secrets abound, and on top of all that, Courtney must deal with friendship woes as well.

But nothing can stop Courtney when she puts her mind to achieving something. She’s way too strong-willed and spirited to let people stand in her way.

So with a little help from her trusty spell book and potions made on the fly, Courtney finds a way to solve her friendship problems, uncover all the camps’ mysteries and save everyone who falls victim to the evil plotters.

This is a great book, and series, for junior readers. It’s the perfect mix of fantasty and reality, with real and relatable characters (with relatable problems) and otherworldly, witchy powers central to the story.

Like book one and two (Secrets and Spells and Hauntings and Hexes), Plots and Potions is an easy and fast-paced read. With mystery, magic and a sprinkle of growing romance, it's perfect for kids who like stories they can relate to, but that also have a little bit of quirky.
