Review: Green

Have you ever wondered how many shades of the colour green there is in our world?

Green by Laura Vaccaro Seeger explores this very idea. It shows shades of green from forest and khaki green to lime and pea green. The story takes readers into jungles, gardens and under the sea.

Green unfolds using two words on each page, accompanied by textural pictures that contain little peek-a-boo windows giving children a hint about the next page's shade of green.

The book Green surprisingly makes readers stop to think about where you don't find the colour green, like a stop sign or in the snow. Where else don't you see green?

Vaccaro Seeger has sometimes cleverly spelt out some 'green' words using leaves and patterns which can be seen through the peek-a-boo windows.

Green was awarded a Caldacott Honor Book in 2013. Keep an eye our for her next book Blue due to be released in late September 2018 or read one of her other books, Lemons are Not Red.
