Asterix, the star of the French comic book series created by RenéGoscinny and Albert Uderzo, made his debut in 1959. Since then, the internationally famous Asterix and his compatriots have featured in at least 37 books.

Asterix has been published around the world, with his popularity so great there is even an Asterix theme park which has been operating for almost thirty years.

Parc Astérix is located north of Paris, France in Plailly. It promotes itself as “fun for all the family … thrillseekers … [and] young Gauls” and offers an experience aimed at immersing visitors in the ancient world of the Gauls, Romans, and others as depicted in the books.

Parc Astérix is home to about forty attractions, including: multiple roller coasters, water rides, swinging ships, bumper cars (chariots), play areas, and various carousels. Each is themed and named to fit the look and feel of the Asterix stories. There’s even an obstacle course for visitors wanting to try out as a Roman soldier recruit.

Special showspresented at Parc Astérix include those featuring the larger than life characters from the stories, as well as a magic show and animal shows. You can also watch Romans versus Gauls as they take on physical challenges in the Parc’s arena.

If you are travelling to France with family or friends, join Asterix, Obelix and their friends at Parc Astérix for a fun day out.
