Cover Reveal: Emily Green's Garden
Spring seems the perfect time
to share this exciting announcement – the imminent release of my new picture book, Emily Green’s Garden, with illustrator Megan Forward.
Due for release on November 1,
by New Frontier, Emily Green’s Garden is about the wonder of creative play and the magic of gardening.
Emily Green lives in a perfectly lovely house, in a perfectly lovely street. When she discovers a seedling growing between the cracks in the pavement outside, she unearths a passion for gardening and getting her hands dirty. But what will her parents and neighbours think of this new hobby, especially as it starts to change their perfectly lovely world?
Emily Green’s Garden is my third picture book and it has been such a thrill to work with New Frontier and to see the story brought to life by awe-inspiring artist (and fellow garden lover) Megan Forward, who infuses each page with vibrancy, detail and joy.
Megan is an author, illustrator and artist with a Bachelor of Visual Arts and a Graduate Diploma in Teaching, specialising in Visual Art and English. As a young girl she dreamed of one day creating picture books. Later in life, she remembered this early passion and is thrilled to be pursuing her childhood dream. Another passion of Megan’s is her love of the natural world and a desire to share this love with children, which is why she was so delighted to receive the manuscript to illustrate Emily Green.
Penny Harrison’s story is so beautifully told. I love her use of language and gently humorous story. The young but determined Emily, passionate about the power of nature, was a delightful character to bring to life.
Megan’s first two books A Patch from Scratch (Penguin Random House 2016) and All I Want for Christmas is Rain (written by Cori Brooke, New Frontier 2016) were both shortlisted for the Children’s Book Council Awards 2017, for the Crichton Award and Younger Readers Award respectively. Her latest book, Jacaranda Magic (written by Dannika Patterson, Ford St Publishing) was published earlier in 2018.
And now to reveal … the cover of Emily Green’s Garden.
