Friday Favorites: First One for November

Happy Friday, y'all, and Happy November!

-ONE-
Last weekend, we went on a little getaway with our friends to Horseshoe Bay/Marble Falls, Texas. It's in the beautiful Texas Hill Country and we were able to stay at my friend's parents' beautiful home. The boys were able to golf while the girls snuck away for a glass of wine, and we all just enjoyed being together. We have four boys between us (two four-year-olds and two two-year olds) so it's always pretty crazy, but we have so much fun.

-TWO-
We had a pretty rainy Halloween, but our little Daniel Tiger and "Army Guy" had so much fun. I'll definitely be praying for a much less rainy fall next year. ;)

-THREE-
Speaking of Halloween, I tried my hardest to make it a fun Halloween for the boys. My mom used to always do cute stuff for us on holidays and I still remember how special it made the holiday feel -- and how special we felt, too. So while the boys were at school on Tuesday, I picked up some Halloween donuts for breakfast on Halloween morning; grabbed a $9 take-and-bake jack-o-lantern pizza from Papa Murphy's; and set out their little Halloween goodies on Halloween morning. It was just a plate and milk cup from Target's Dollar Aisle and a Halloween-themed book, but it was just something fun!

For dinner on Halloween Eve, I made "spook-getti!" (Just spaghetti made with zucchini noodles and I put edible spooky eyes from Walmart on top.) And then we rented "Hotel Transylvania 3" on Prime and watched it together as a family. I love holidays and especially now that we have kids!

-FOUR-
And speaking of Walmart, I was in there and found the cutest hiking boots for the boys! They were $16.98!

And I know a lot of the stuff I post that I purchased from Walmart is sold out online, but I've gone back into stores and have seen it out on display. ;)

-FIVE-
Did you know that World Kindness Day is Tuesday, Nov. 13? I love all of these fun little "made-up holidays," but I think this one might be my favorite. It's so important to Brandon and me that we raise kind children who enjoy serving and paying it forward and leading (and living!) with a Christlike example. So, I loved this article from Personal Creations: "30 Thoughtful Random Acts of Kindness for Kids." (Give it a read!)

Some of my personal favorites:

  • Talk to someone new at school
  • Sit with someone who is sitting alone
  • Bake cookies for the local fire station
  • Buy lunch for a soldier you see at an airport
  • Thank your mail carrier for their services
  • Tell someone they are important

-SIX-
I know that now that Halloween has come and gone that a lot of people (and stores) are in full-blown Christmas mode. I adore Thanksgiving and can't wait to celebrate it in three weeks-ish. No pressure of gifts, just getting together with family and friends to eat, drink, watch football and remember what it is we're thankful for. I love it!

But, that said, I am gearing up for some post-Thanksgiving holiday-themed posts and would love to know what types of posts you'd like to see: gift guides (and if so, which ones); Christmas traditions; etc. I'd love to hear from you!
