The story is about Bruno the dog and his best mate Bob (the barefoot bushie). Bruno and Bob share a broken down house in the bush. They go everywhere together. They do everything together. They’re best mates.
When they strike it lucky at the races, they head off to see what the rest of Australia has to offer. They experience new places and enjoy the fancy delights of city living.
But can a dog from the bush be happy in the city?
Bruno the Boisterous Blue Dog from the Bush is a story about friendship, adventure and learning that sometimes it’s the simple things that make us the happiest.
Filled to the brim with alliteration and interesting Australian slang, this is a good one for classrooms as it’s sure to spark much discussion about the meanings of words and rhythms of language. There are also great teachers notes available on the Big Sky Publishing website.
With a longer word count and lots of fun, challenging words, the story will likely appeal to a slightly older audience of around seven to nine. Kids will enjoy the funky illustrations and outrageous antics Bruno and Bob get up to in the bush.
