Raccoon is chased through the story, along the street, past cars, up and down ladders ... he's everywhere.
The narrative draws readers in, encouraging them to 'Turn the pages, have a look!' and follow the baddie as he tries to escape.
Other characters are part of the backdrop, and though not named, are made part of the story through the illustrations.
There are the turtles who are beaten to the finish line in their race, a crowd of chickens, and numerous drivers and pedestrians.
Merging the story with the idea of a physical book, are holes drawn in the pictures, as if the raccoon has torn through the pages of the book as he runs madly away from those chasing him. And there are lots of people chasing him. Will he be caught?
The talents of Shelly Unwin and Vivienne To are neatly combined in There's a Baddie Running Through This Book. It's a fun and funny story which makes for an enjoyable story at bed time, in the classroom, or a favourite reading spot at home.
