Life Lately

Hey, friends! I'm sad to say that this time of the year plus Knox being sick over Thanksgiving has me just a few steps behind. So, I think a bit of catching up is due today! 

We had a crazy week last week with two "school night" events that had us in bed well past our normal 10 p.m. bedtime. So we were definitely catching up on some sleep this weekend. 

Tuesday night was Brandon's annual company Christmas dinner. It was so nice and held in the wine room at Del Frisco's in Fort Worth. The food was delicious and we all had fun catching up. 

My skirt is an old J.Crew skirt. There are a ton of them on Poshmark and Tradesy; just search "J.Crew Gold Sequin Skirt." I wore tights from Target and an Ann Taylor cotton thin turtleneck (also old). 

Thursday night, we went to the Cowboys vs. Saints game at AT&T Stadium. We were offered tickets months ago and were excited to take our friends Liz and Chris with us. It was an amazing game and so much fun! 

Over the weekend, we were so sad to hear the news of former President George H.W. Bush's passing. I thought there was no better time for the boys to wear their "Reagan/Bush '84" shirts than on Saturday. I found these on Zulily a year or so ago, but they'e everywhere online now!

We took the boys to see the new Grinch movie on Saturday afternoon, and had so much fun! It was a really cute movie.

We rounded out Saturday with dinner at Mi Cocina and seeing Santa (again) in Southlake Town Square with friends. 

We took our family portraits on Sunday with my amazingly talented friend, Liz. We have been trying to do this since before Thanksgiving, but with sick kiddos (such is life!) we kept having to reschedule between us and finally got to get together to take them Sunday evening, followed by our annual "framily" dinner at their house. I made taco soup and cornbread, they made guacamole and provided chips, dessert + wine and the kids played a rousing game of Twister while we all danced to Christmas music. It's one of my favorite nights of the year! Love our precious friends. 

We also had some unusually warm (for November) weather last week, so we enjoyed lots of outside playtime. The boys especially love playing in all of the leaves that have recently all fallen from our trees -- and our neighbor's trees, too. ;) 

There is nothing I love more than seeing the boys enjoy the Christmas tree. Knox loves to just lay down beside it and look at it, and this time, he was playing on his tablet while laying by the tree in his Christmas jammies. Love that boy!
