Review: Rhyme Cordial
As a child we often play with words that rhyme and this flaps board book, Rhyme Cordial by Antonia Pesenti, uses wordplay to create a delightful, funny, whimsical and clever concept book. The book presents an ordinary object or food and then turns them into an extraordinary rhyme. These new word combinations will make children giggle and guffaw at the corresponding illustrations behind the flap. They will see 'FRESH ORANGE JUICE' turn into 'FRESH ORANGE GOOSE.'
There are some disgusting rhymes that will have children snorting - what might have 'SNEEZE ON TOAST' originally rhymed with?
Pesenti's architecture experience translates into her imaginative and unique illustrations. She combines black backgrounds with colourful images that contain strong design elements, making them pleasing to the eye.
Other books illustrated by Antonia Pesenti include; Alphabetical Sydney written by Hilary Bell and Look Up! Numbers, Colours and Shapes in Architecture.
