Review: Bear Moves
How dances do you know?Bear knows heaps of them, and he loves to move!
When the dancing mood hits him, which appears to be quite often, Bear gets his groove on, and in a rather hilarious way.
Bear can breakdance, do the limbo, and the foxtrot.
He's also pretty good at belly dancing, the quickstep, and the Running Man.
Bear Moves shows him in action.
Colour-infused moves leap off the page, and are sure to have you giggling.
You might even learn a new dance or two yourself. If you try to keep up with Bear and all his dances, you'll end up just like him -- tired out!
The rhyming text in Bear Moves has been written by Ben Bailey Smith, also known as rapper 'Doc Brown'. Keep a rap approach in mind as you read out loud (which is best for this book) at a steady pace and use the rhythm.
The cover (with Bear in a Saturday Night Fever-esque pose) really sets the scene for what's inside.
Bear is not the only one giving the dances a go. He's joined by a couple of friends. Bunny is the sidekick who is also in charge of music, while Squirrel tries partnering Bear in the foxtrot. However, what Bear really needs is a fellow bear who is tall enough to Tango.
Bear Moves is a fun and active story, which is likely to have young children (and perhaps some not so young) up and trying out dance moves themselves.
