BBPF: You Are Never Alone

Happy Friday; how are things going for you today?
I got back late last night from a Character Strong training in CA;
check out this serene sight from my airplane window.
Isn't the shadow of my plane encircled by a rainbow glorious?

I thought it made the perfect backdrop for this self-care quote.
How do you make sure to carve out me, too time?
Today's PPBF is a great catalyst for that conversation.

Why I like this book: So much beauty in this breathtaking book. As I was reading it, all I could think about what how we are all intricately connected, to one another, and to our environment. Here's an idea this gem ignited:

Take a nature hike to look for flowers you've not seen before,

or see them again for the first time.

Here's what our character cam caught

in full bloom in Pleasanton, California,

a visual explosion that awakened my senses.

Invite your students to make a book with drawings
or, if you're allowed to pick these treasure,
 dry the samples and preserve them.
Challenge your budding authors to describe the flowers
in one, two, or three sparkle words.

Then encourage them to write a haiku
{April also National Poetry Month after all}
or some other poetry about the flowers:
What do they look like?
How do they smell?
What do they feel like in your fingers?
Can you hear them dance in the wind?
How do they make you feel?
Mindfulness in motion.

I'm so grateful to Owlkids Books for the advance copy;
check out this dynamic jewel and enjoy celebrating
the present of our awesome natural beauty
along with the healing power of simply being outdoors.
