Since we celebrated moms last month, today was all about our dads!

Mystery Box: inside the polka dot box, we found our good friend, The Very Hungry Caterpillar!

I Love You Dad with the Very Hungry Caterpillar - Carle (cute & colorful, great short text for toddlers)
What Daddies Like - Nevins (cute but just ok for the first session)
Big Brave Daddy- (session #2 LOVED it!)

Flannel Board: Where is Daddy?

i used this cute peekaboo board from Lakeshore Learning! 

i have a house to show you today! there is a daddy hiding in the house, let's find him!

Where is Daddy? Where is Daddy?
here i am! here i am!
i'm behind the red door, i'm behind the red door
look & see, look & see!

oh no, that's not daddy! thats my brother. we need to keep looking!

repeat for:
I'm behind the green bush & I'm peeking from a window

then look in all the windows til you find the daddy there!

this was awesome! so fun!

Craft: Best Dad Ever Paper Ties

i printed these on cardstock & cut them out. the kids decorated with our super cool dot art markers then we taped on a ribbon so dads could wear them. everyone loved this craft and it was so easy! 

i even made one for my husband from our cats LOL!

Today was a wonderful program, two great sessions. the kids were a little hard to settle down in the beginning but i reminded the parents that it was okay to step out for a few minutes to shake out their sillies, then rejoin the group and everything worked out! I loved the VH caterpillar book and the Big Brave Daddy one also. we had a little boy named Charlie in one class so it was perfect! Craft & flannel board also definitely keepers to re-use next year!
