Review: When Pencil Met Eraser
Pencil loves to draw. Pencil creates works of ART. Pencil definitely does not want anyone coming along and changing things.Eraser admires Pencil's work, but Eraser sees things differently from Pencil. When Eraser sweeps across Pencil's drawings, Pencil is NOT pleased.
Karen Kilpatrick and Luis O. Ramos, Jr. have created lovable characters. Germán Blanco's illustrations provide further emotional connection.
As the characters continue to disagree with each other, independent Pencil becomes more and more infuriated with enthusiastic Eraser. Through delightful postures and expressions, and monochrome pencil drawings offset by colourful characters, Blanco shows them initially arguing, then finally frolicking, through the art they create together.
Pencil draws amazing cities, beautiful meadows, stormy oceans and dark forests. Eraser reveals hidden sky and meandering paths, calms the storm and even lights the dark night, yet Pencil still cannot see the value Eraser brings. Then, one day, Eraser's unique talents shine through and this unlikely duo become the very best of friends.
Pencil and Eraser are finally happy, until... other friends arrive and want to change things, too.
