Review: What Zola did on Wednesday

On Monday, Zola had to deal with a seed disaster. On Tuesday, she solved the mystery of who lives next door. On Wednesday, Sophia’s turtle has gone missing, and Zola thinks she knows how to find him.

Leo lives on Zola’s street and his mum is a police officer. When she brings home a sniffer dog called Vesper, Zola is impressed and excited. 

Then she discovers Sophia’s turtle has gone missing, and she thinks she knows just how to find him. But it involves breaking some rules, and things don’t exactly go to plan.

This is a fabulous junior fiction series. It’s fun and lively, but based around relatable family life. With simple language, big text and beautiful illustrations throughout, it’s a great choice for kids starting to read. 

I know I’ve said it before about the other books in the series, but this really is a great read for kids starting their reading adventures, particularly young girls. It’s fun and loving, with characters kids can connect with. 

At the back of the book there is always something a little extra, and this time kids will get tips on how to train their dogs. So much fun!
