Review: Richard Scarry's Peasant Pig and the Terrible Dragon

Richard Scarry's style is highly recognisable and has been much loved since his 'Busy World' books were first published in the 1960s.

Richard Scarry's Peasant Pig and the Terrible Dragon is a mix of the Busy World and the Middle Ages.

In it, readers will travel back in time to encounter knights and castles.

Just like other Richard Scarry books, the story is full of colour and movement and lively animal characters, including Lowly Worm, the court jester.

There's Princess Lily and her parents, the King and Queen, and a village of peasants who live and work around the castle.

What will happen when, amidst a holiday carnival, Princess Lily is captured by a dragon? Is the dragon even real?

A group of knights set out to rescue Princess Lily, but Peasant Pig is sure he can help, too.

Robbers in disguise, heavy armour, grape juice, a throwing machine (aka catapult), and a sack of pepper all play a part in the antics that ensue.

Will Peasant Pig manage to save the day? And how will they all celebrate when Princess Lily is returned home?
