Review: Dinosaur in My Pocket
We all make mistakes and on the day that James visited the museum, he made a big one that came with consequences. One toy was missing from the shelf of James’ miniature collection. When he saw the dinosaur in the museum shop, he didn’t have any money.
As no-one was looking, he popped the toy into his pocket.
He didn’t feel himself about doing something dishonest. He was uncomfortable and felt the dinosaur was a heavy weight that he carried with him.
His guilt grew and grew in the form of the dinosaur he had taken. Soon it was so big, it filled his backpack. At home, it kept growing until it filled his room. How could he tell his parents?
He had to tell them the truth.
After James returned the dinosaur and apologised for his actions, he felt much better. Mum suggested a way that James could earn the thing he wants honestly.
He even thought of additional, creative ways of adding to his money jar. James felt a great sense of achievement at being able to get what he wanted in an honest way.
Beautiful images of James’ guilty feelings fill the pages. Blithe Fielden has translated the text in a manner that children can easily interpret.
Stunning end pages and bold colours fill the book. Wonderful lessons are here to be learnt, presented in a gentle and effective manner.
