Review: Greg the Galah, Superstar!

According to Greg the Galah, Superstar! bird species each have unique personalities, and many love attention. 

In this story the birds might look like those you've seen before, or perhaps not. They might act somewhat differently, too.

Galahs have a reputation for being silly and funny. Like a silly galah. But Greg is a galah who isn’t like that at all. 

Greg is incredibly polite and introverted. He never makes jokes, and he’s shy. 

Bruce the budgie is Greg’s best friend and quite the opposite. Bruce makes silly noises, loves dancing and trying new things.

When Bruce enters Greg into the world-famous face-pulling show without telling him, he’s asking for trouble.

Birds of all kinds enter the competition. Pelicans, pigeons, flamingos, all of them can pull silly faces. When Greg’s name is called he at first refuses to have a go. Bruce convinces him he can do it, though. 

Without planning it, what happens next might just win the show for Greg. It involves a fly, a burp, and Greg’s dinner. Kids who love gross stuff (and that's most if not all of them) will revel in the story, and the pictures of what happens. 

Greg the Galah, Superstar! is a rhyming story. Written by Patrick Guest, it’s illustrated with colourful cartoon birds by Jonathan Bentley.
