2. What is your nickname?
My friends sometimes call me Ang, but my kids just call me Mummy. But I do have a Chinese nickname - Ting Ting (very popular name thou).
3. What is your greatest fear?
That I’ll start a sentence and forget what I was saying halfway through… Oh wait, what was the question again?
4. Describe your writing style in 10 words.
Playful, heartfelt, quirky, humorous, warm, thoughtful, political, relatable, creative and friendly.
5. Tell us five positive words that describe you as a writer.
Imaginative, curious, determined, magical (haha), and a little mischievous. Controversial? (Wait, that's negative?).
6. What book character would you be, and why?
The bird mum from my picture book My Mum is a Bird. Because I want to spread my wings and fly high.
7. If you could time travel, what year would you go to and why?
I’d visit 100 years into the future to see if we finally have flying cars and robot butlers - or if we’ve just invented 100 new types of instant noodles.
8. What would your 10-year-old self say to you now?
“You write books now? That’s so cool! But wait, why didn't you want to be a movie director?”
9. Who is your greatest influence?
My kids! Their curiosity and way of seeing the world inspire many of my stories.
10. What/who made you start writing?
I’ve always loved storytelling and I used to write lifestyle and parenting articles, but becoming a mum reminded me of the magic of picture books and how they shape the way kids see themselves and the world.
11. What is your favourite word and why?
Mysterious. It’s fun to say, I like the word sound and I like to write fantasy! I love the idea of strange things leading to wonderful discoveries.
12. If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Dog Man — because no matter how many times I read it with my kids, we always find new laughs and unexpected wisdom in its pages.
