NEW SENIOR EDITOR role for Sue Warren

We are delighted to announce that longtime KBR Team Member and reviewer - teacher librarian Sue Warren - is now a Senior Editor! We asked Sue to give us an update on her busy-bee literary life with our infamous 12 Curly Questions.

1. Tell us something hardly anyone knows about you.
I’d rather be an archaeologist.

2. What is your nickname?
Los – it’s short for Losang which is my Buddhist name.

3. What is your greatest fear?
I worry about the future world for our young people – the environment, the intolerance, the lack of ethics in leadership, inequality.

4. Describe your writing style in ten words.
I write to please myself, if others like it – great!

5. Tell us five positive words that describe you as a writer.
Humorous, conversational, unpretentious,  knowledgeable, personal.

6. What book character would you be, and why?
Always Hermione – smartest witch for her age and when in doubt, go to the library.

7. If you could time travel, what year would you go to and why?
I’ve always wished I could have been standing behind Howard Carter, when Tutankhamun’s tomb was first opened in 1922.

8. What would your ten-year-old self say to you now?
Who knew you would be a writer as well as a librarian?

9. Who is your greatest influence?
My circle of women, the ones who always have my back and always support me.

10. What made you start writing?
I’ve been writing really since I was in kindergarten but as an adult, I sort of fell into book reviewing and have just gone from there. Now I write not just reviews, but teaching resources, magazine articles and have non-fiction readers published in America – so far.

11. What is your favourite word and why?
Splendiferous is still a favourite but I’m also using spuddling a lot these days. It means looking very busy and important but not actually doing much.

12. If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Of Mice and Men – John Steinbeck. It’s the perfect novella and has everything: humour, pathos, drama, love, and rabbits.
