What's Up Wednesday: August 2018

Hey, y'all! I haven't done one of these in a while, so I thought there was no better day than today to link up with Mel, Sheaffer and Shay for "What's Up Wednesday" to share a bit about what's been going on here this month.

I'll be answering the following questions:

{1} What We're Eating This Week
Lots of yummy things! Crock Pot BBQ Chicken; Low-Carb Crustless Taco Pie; Homemade Sloppy Joe's; and grilled chicken with sides of roasted asparagus and Party Potatoes. We have been doing Keto and love it, but we aren't as strict about it now after being on it for a month. I'm happy to report that I've met my goal weight and I'm thrilled to see how my body responds to a low-carb diet!

{2} What I'm Reminiscing About
Our sweet summer. We had such a ball this year and I loved every minute of it (except that week we were above 110* in temperatures...I sure didn't love that). The boys were at such a fun age this year and I loved finally being at a year without morning naps, packing up bottles (and a gigantic diaper bag full of newborn essentials) to go anywhere, Knox fully mobile and they were just at the perfect age to get out and do/go. It was so special!

{3} What I'm Loving
Services:
+ Instacart Delivery (seriously THE best service for moms of little ones, older people and just anyone who doesn't have time/the desire to get out and grocery shop in a store). Use my referral code here for $10 off your first order!

+ thredUp: Not necessarily a "service," per se, but I'm loving how easy it is to get precious clothes (many NWT) for a fraction of the price in stores. I am obsessed with finding deals and this site just makes my bargain-hunting heart happy. Use my referral code here for $10 off your order!

+ Amazon eGift Cards: You don't even have to get to a store or get a physical gift card. You can just use their website or your Amazon app and send an eGift card to someone's email or phone via text. It makes it so simple to send something to someone going through a rough time, or a gift you forgot about, etc. What a time to be alive.

Products:
+ I bought this Vitamin C Serum during Amazon Prime Day and am really loving the results I've seen so far: smoother, more even skin and less blotchy spots. Definitely a winner for me.

+ This liquid eyeliner that I've been using for about a year now and am obsessed with. I recently ordered more and was reminded why I love it so much: it goes on smoothly, isn't goopy and stays on all day long!

+ This microneedling tool. It helps with skin smoothness, acne scars, uneven skin tone, and helps your skin absorb product. I've been using it for about 2.5-3 weeks and really notice a difference in my skin.

+ And this coconut coffee that tastes like you're on a beach somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Delicious!

{4} What We've Been Up To
We've had a much slower August than the rest of the summer. We made a trip down to my hometown to see my parents for a few days before school started, and that was really fun and a nice change of pace (and scenery). The boys started school last week, so we had about 2.5 weeks between their summer camp at preschool and the start of their actual "school." (Too bad the boys got sick soon after, but I guess such is life.) It's been nice to get into a routine with that. But other than school starting, we have been swimming in the pool a lot, had play dates with friends, and Brandon and I even snuck in a date night at the beginning of this month, which was so nice! I also helped host a shower for my friend Emily two weeks ago that was so sweet!

{5} What I'm Dreading
I'm not sure if "dreading" is the right word, but I'm not looking forward to the hustle and bustle that fall and winter brings. I feel like I will blink and it will be Christmas, and I'm just really wanting to savor each season (literally and figuratively) we are in right now.

{6} What I'm Working On
With the boys back in school, I'm really trying to work on this blog! I took a nice little summer hiatus, but it's nice to be back. I polled my Instagram followers last month asking for the types of posts they'd like to see, and I got a lot of great feedback. So I'm really working to get those blog posts written and also write about things that are meaningful and important to me.

{7} What I'm Excited About
Routine! I'm a creature of habit, so while I love summer, I also crave routine and really thrive off of it. I'm also loving that football is back (all the praise hands!).

{8} What I'm Watching/Reading
Of course I can't stop watching "Bachelor in Paradise," as much as I hate to admit it, along with "The Real Housewives of Dallas" and "The Real Housewives of Orange County." I'll definitely be ready for fall TV to come back soon!

I recently finished reading "Slightly South of Simple" and "The Secret to Southern Charm." I have really enjoyed this series and can't wait to follow it up with some of Kristy Woodson Harvey's other books.

{9} What I'm Listening To
If I'm not listening to 90's on 9, we've been jamming out a lot in the car to "The Greatest Showman" soundtrack. I love hearing my boys sing those songs in their sweet little voices!

{10} What I'm Wearing
It's still hot here in North Texas (and will be until at least mid-October), so I basically live in Nike shorts, a T-shirt and flip-flops these days. If I have anywhere to be, though, I'll throw on a pair of white jeans and a cute top. Some recent purchases I've made (and can't wait to wear when it cools off a bit) include:

This shirt and this cardigan from J.Crew Factory:

This shirt from Nordstrom:

And this top from ThredUp (which I'm obsessed with; you can use my referral code here for $10 off your first order!):

{11} What I'm Doing This Weekend
We're celebrating Labor Day Weekend with my parents, and we're all so excited to see them again.

{12} What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month
Our one last hoo-rah: Labor Day Weekend. I can't believe it's already that time! But I'm also excited that college football's regular season starts next month, too!

{13} What Else is New
Not too much other than what I've listed here! I hope y'all have wonderful Wednesdays!
