Everyone's weekend is different. What does yours look like?

Saturday, Sunday depicts one family’s weekend routine.

Rhyming text by Natalie Kate Forbes both stands alone and flows beautifully. It’s complemented by Danny Snell’s gentle, connected illustrations. 

As you follow the words and pictures, it feels like you’re right there among the family, being led along as they progress through the weekend.

From waking and deciding what to eat for breakfast, to swimming lessons and shopping, Saturday morning is packed. It’s the busiest day of the weekend. 

After shopping there’s a visit to the library followed by the playground. Walking the dog comes with an added destination. Then there’s time to play before dinner and getting ready for bed. 

Sunday is the weekend’s fun day. A slow start is followed by imaginary play and favourite toys, gardening, and a picnic. Best of all is a visit from grandparents. Dinner on Sunday is a treat, too. Pizza with home-made dough! At bed time there are weekday adventures to look forward to. 

A great book for introducing young children to the concepts of time and what a week and weekend is. And to discuss different ways people live.

Saturday, Sunday is like a hug and will leave you with a warm happy feeling. 

Wake up! It's Saturday, jump out of bed!
Brush teeth! Get dressed! Make sure the dog's fed!
There's so much to do, we mustn't waste time.
Look at the clock – it's a quarter to nine!

Wake up. Stretch and yawn.
We've got the whole day.
There's plenty of time on Sunday to play.
